Key Responsibilities
- Lead process optimization and continuous improvement projects to enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Design custom fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing aids using SolidWorks; conduct FEA (Finite Element Analysis) as needed.
- Manage manufacturing and process improvement projects, from concept to implementation.
- Support R&D initiatives, including trials and product development for composite materials.
- Analyze composite construction variations to improve processability and product performance.
- Implement Lean principles and methodologies to streamline operations and drive productivity.
- Provide technical assistance and training to production teams, ensuring effective knowledge transfer.
- Identify, design, and implement new equipment, technologies, and processes to address manufacturing challenges.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure preventive maintenance tasks are well-documented and executed.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and provide regular updates on progress.
- Other duties as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Composites, Mechanical, or Manufacturing preferred; Chemical or Materials Science considered); advanced degrees are a plus.
- 4 years of experience in manufacturing, process improvement, or related fields.
- Experience with pultrusion or filament winding highly desirable
- Expertise in process/continuous improvement
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling, fixture/tooling design, and FEA analysis.
- Experience with thermoset resin systems (e.g., polyester, vinyl-ester, urethane) is a plus but not required.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes and implement practical solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate across all levels of an organization.
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma principles is highly desirable.
