Senior Cost Accountant

Position Overview

The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for overseeing cost accounting activities and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's cost data. This role involves analyzing costs, preparing reports, and providing insights to support financial decision-making and improve profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.
• Analyze and report on inventory costs, including carrying costs and excess & obsolete inventory.
• Prepare and analyze standard cost information to update Bill of Materials (BOM) and support program accounting.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to monitor and control production costs and improve efficiency.
• Conduct variance analysis and prepare reports for management on cost trends and forecasts.
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of ERP systems to enhance cost tracking capabilities.
• Support financial audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations of cost accounting processes.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting or related accounting roles.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and GAAP.
• Proficient in Excel and experience with JD Edwards or similar ERP systems.
• Knowledge of program accounting and experience with manufacturing cost structures.
• Familiarity with inventory management practices and carrying costs analysis.
