Senior Underwriter - Marine Cargo (180K-250K)

Position Overview

We are one of the fastest growing InsurTech companies in the US. Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Marine Cargo underwriter to join our team. You will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting marine cargo insurance policies, ensuring appropriate coverage for clients while managing risk and maintaining profitability for the company. This role demands a thorough understanding of marine insurance products and the ability to make informed decisions based on comprehensive risk assessments.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess marine cargo insurance applications and risks.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Determine appropriate coverage terms, conditions, and pricing for marine cargo policies.
• Conduct risk assessments and analysis of cargo shipments and related liabilities.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior underwriters and support staff.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and developments related to marine insurance.
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting, specifically in marine cargo insurance.
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, insurance, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of insurance principles, underwriting guidelines, and risk assessment methods.
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for client and broker interactions.
• Familiarity with marine cargo, warehouse legal liability, and cargo legal liability is preferred.
• Advanced certifications in insurance (e.g., CPCU, AU) are a plus.
