Site Safety and Health Officer

Position Overview

The Site Safety and Health Officer is responsible for implementing and overseeing safety programs and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at construction sites. The officer will work closely with project managers and staff to promote a culture of safety and to minimize risks associated with construction activities. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and ensure compliance with USACE & OSHA regulations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Provide training and orientation to site personnel on safety procedures and regulations.
• Monitor job site activities and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Maintain the OSHA-Form 300 and Daily Production reports for prime and subcontractors
• Maintain applicable safety reference material (applicable EM-385 and OSHA Construction Industry Safety Regulations) on the job site
• Implement and enforce accepted accident prevention plan(s) and activity hazard analyses.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Conduct weekly safety meetings for all workers.
• Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related communications with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety or a related field.
• Certification in Construction Safety (e.g., CSP, CHST) is preferred.
• Familiarity with USACE EM-385-1-1 safety standards is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety analysis methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Traveling to projects for extended period (4 months )
• Locations needed but not limited to Wake Island (USA Territory) & Sheyma Island, AK
• Salary - Non-Exempt Employee with per diem or housing/food covered.
