Major Opportunities & Key Accountabilities
System & Data Architecture (Primary Focus):
- Develop and implement a comprehensive system and data architecture that aligns with our strategic goals and supports business transformation.
- Design scalable data models and database architectures that support real-time analytics, reporting, and AI/ML applications.
- Architect and optimize GraphQL, REST, and serverless APIs to ensure seamless data integration and efficient querying.
- Establish best practices for data governance, security, and compliance in multi-tenant SaaS environments.
- Define event-driven architecture using AWS services such as Lambda, EventBridge, Kinesis, and SQS.
- Evaluate and implement modern data storage solutions (data warehouses, data lakes) to support advanced analytics and dashboards.
- Ensure data integrity, quality, and lifecycle management while optimizing data workflows.
- Lead efforts to integrate disparate data sources into a cohesive, secure, and accessible data ecosystem.
- Oversee the design and implementation of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and cloud-native data orchestration.
- Implement best practices for data automation, transformation, and real-time processing.
- Ensure compliance with data governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and our internal policies.
- Architect and manage cloud-based solutions on AWS, leveraging services such as RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, S3, and Glue.
- Optimize data storage and retrieval mechanisms for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Define strategies for data replication, caching (Redis, CloudFront), and high availability.
- Partner with DevOps to implement CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and cloud cost optimization strategies.
- Work closely with engineering, product, and business teams to align data architecture with business needs.
- Serve as a technical advisor, translating business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
- Mentor engineers in data modeling, API design, and cloud-native best practices.
- Stay at the forefront of emerging trends in data architecture, cloud computing, and analytics.
- Hybrid work environment with occasional travel as needed (less than 5%).
- Works cross-functionally with product, UX, back-end, and DevOps teams.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in system architecture, data modeling, and cloud platforms.
- Proven experience in designing data architectures for large-scale, data-driven businesses.
- Experience working with geospatial data, including imagery, point clouds, and spatial databases.
- Expertise in GraphQL API design, optimization, and data fetching strategies.
- Strong background in relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB, MongoDB) databases.
- Experience architecting event-driven and microservices-based systems.
- Deep knowledge of AWS cloud services, including Lambda, API Gateway, Redshift, Glue, and Step Functions.
- Experience with data pipeline frameworks and orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Kafka, or AWS Glue.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Background in data automation, machine learning workflows, and AI-driven analytics.
- Strong knowledge of data security best practices, including encryption, IAM, and API security.
- Strategic Thinking: Define and implement long-term data and system architecture strategies.
- Problem-Solving: Break down complex challenges into scalable and actionable solutions.
