Based in Chicago, IL we are a leading commercial contractor with a national presense and over 50 locations.
We've got an established corporate team and are looking for a Senior Accountant who can travel nationwide, about 50% of the time, to further develop our corporate accounting and financial procedures while also training our team members on our Microsoft Dynamics NAV accounting platform and standard accounting procedures & best practices.
This is an excellent role for someone who can travel often and wants to have a high-level impact on our organization across the nation. In this role, you will collaborate with the exec leadership and the accounting/finance teams of all of our branches, as well as conduct corporate training in Chicago, IL.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the accounting functions related to construction projects including job costing and financial reporting.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior accountants and staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in accounting practices and software.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports to support project accounting and financial decision-making.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting of project costs and progress.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with project objectives and financial targets.
- Conduct audits and due diligence processes to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Support payroll processing and account reconciliation to ensure timely and accurate compensation for employees.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting best practices, tax laws, and industry standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of Job Costing, Work In Progress, %-to-Completion accounting
- Strong Payroll knowledge
- Strong knowledge of Dynamics NAV or another construction based accounting platform
- Experience in training and developing accounting staff.
- Familiarity with finance concepts including work in progress, percent to completion, and project accounting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suiten and Excel
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPA certification is a PLUS
