Position Overview
The Tugboat Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of tugboats while maneuvering vessels in ports, harbors, and other inland waterways. This role includes overseeing crew members, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations, and executing towing operations with precision and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate tugboats to assist in docking and undocking ships and barges.
- Ensure compliance with all maritime regulations and safety procedures.
- Lead and train crew members in safe vessel operations and emergency response protocols.
- Perform routine maintenance and mechanical checks on tugboat equipment.
- Communicate effectively with vessel crews and port authorities during operations.
- Assess weather conditions and interpret charts to plan safe navigation routes.
- Supervise towing operations and ensure the secure attachment of tow lines.
- Valid Tugboat Captain's license and necessary certifications.
- Proven experience in ship handling and towing operations.
- Prior marine construction experience strongly preferred
