The Division of Instructional & Information Technology (DIIT) plays a crucial role in helping the DOE execute its mission and vision by providing technology that enables equity and excellence, with as few disruptions as possible. DIIT's mission is to ensure staff and students have the technology knowledge, abilities, and resources necessary for an excellent education while empowering collaboration across the organization to deliver technology for the next generation. This role will support the development of new wireless technology to ensure students and administrators receive high speed, secure, and mobile access to the internet and instructional resources. DIIT requires IT professional services to support day-to-day needs for critical business functions and be responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, and implementing data integration solutions that support New York City schools in their day-to-day business.
High-Level Project Goals
This position provides support to the development and deployment of new wireless Technology to the schools. It provides core wireless connectivity and advanced mobility capabilities to NYC's 1600 public schools. It is critical for schools to receive high speed, secure, and mobile access to the Internet and to instructional resources. The refresh provides the backbone for the wireless capability that is now critical to support students and teachers.
- Contribute to the design, configuration, and implementation of new wired and wireless technology solutions.
- Implement solutions integrating Cisco wireless controllers, Controller-less Architecture and Client
- Identify and resolve network issues, validate performance and reliability of the wireless infrastructure.
- Lead migration and implementation plans for the enterprise network involving Cisco and Meraki devices.
- Perform system upgrades, security remediation and resource optimization as per established policies and standards.
- Support implementation and deployment of wireless standards including 802.11ax, 802.11ac, 802.11n, and wireless security authentication and encryption protocols including PEAP, EAP-TLS, PSK etc.
