As a Cisco Network Engineer, you will be responsible for researching, planning, and installing enterprise solutions involving networking and software technologies that support critical life safety systems. This role focuses on assessing current infrastructure, providing expert recommendations, and configuring hardware and software solutions. You will work independently or as part of a team to achieve department service objectives, contributing to the design, installation, and support of network and infrastructure systems.

As a Cisco Network Engineer, you will be responsible for researching, planning, and installing enterprise solutions involving networking and software technologies that support critical life safety systems. This role focuses on assessing current infrastructure, providing expert recommendations, and configuring hardware and software solutions. You will work independently or as part of a team to achieve department service objectives, contributing to the design, installation, and support of network and infrastructure systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to Tier 1 and Tier 2 network and software support requests
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers of varying technical expertise
- Manage break/fix requests for network resources and resolve connection issues
- Design and extend campus network and infrastructure solutions
- Configure and deploy network hardware and communication systems
- Maintain project and architecture documentation as well as inventory and maintenance records
- Monitor network traffic and resolve anomalies or faults
- Support ITS field maintenance with communication implementation and troubleshooting
- Assist in improving cybersecurity controls and participate in threat hunting
- Manage time and resources efficiently while balancing multiple priorities
- 10 years of general IT experience
- 5 years of hands-on Cisco routing and switching experience
- 5 years of experience with VLAN management
- 2 years of experience in network design
- 5 years of experience with subnetting and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc.)
- 2 years of experience with authentication protocols (Radius, TACACS, etc.)
- 5 years of firewall administration experience
- 2 years of experience with VPN and remote access technologies
- Certifications and a 4-year degree in computer science or related discipline are strongly preferred
