As a Database Architect, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and managing data solutions that ensure accuracy, security, and usability. This role involves using data architecture to support departmental leadership and stakeholders, enabling data-driven decisions through timely and protected access to federal, state, and public data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage data sets for various data visualization platforms, including the Client Report Card and Client Open Data Portal, using Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, Power BI, and Visual Studio.
- Fulfill ad hoc and routine data requests as per established data sharing agreements and memoranda of understanding.
- Support the Team Lead in managing educational data domains and assist Department and internal data teams.
- Continuously expand and improve data reporting capabilities to meet Department needs.
- Engage with users and internal staff to ensure data solutions meet business requirements and are delivered on schedule.
- Maintain and enhance SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages and stored procedures for data transformation and reporting needs.
- Translate business requirements into precise data specifications and ensure effective data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
- Ensure data privacy, compliance, and security are upheld across data solutions.
- Proficiency in SSIS package development
- Strong SQL Server stored procedure development skills
- Ability to multitask effectively and handle multiple priorities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field
- Associate degree in the above fields with at least 4 years of experience in areas such as database administration, development, architecture, or data processing
- 8 years of experience in database administration, development, architecture, or data management without a degree
- Minimum of 3 years with large data sets, particularly in Microsoft SQL Server environments and enterprise information systems
- Proficiency with SQL, SSRS, and related analytical tools
- Proven ability to manage projects and meet goals and priorities
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI is a plus
- Experienced in data migration, transformation, and ETL processes
- Strong analytical skills with a strategic approach to problem-solving
- Project management skills, particularly in public, non-profit, or private sector settings
- Excellent communication skills for translating data into actionable insights
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, handling priorities under pressure
- Professional discretion, confidentiality, and interpersonal skills for team collaboration
