As a Senior Network Engineer, you will support the Department of Management (DOM) and Division of Information Technology (DOIT) by managing and optimizing the enterprise network environment. This role is vital in maintaining secure communications, ensuring network performance, and providing architectural insights for network infrastructure across executive branches. You will be responsible for operational support, network security, and consulting on infrastructure improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage routers, switches, and firewalls to ensure security, performance, and availability of network services
- Configure and maintain secure network infrastructure according to security standards and best practices
- Provide network architecture support, including infrastructure assessments, diagram creation, and problem resolution
- Manage networks and systems to prevent unauthorized access and ensure secure data transmission
- Plan, schedule, and implement firewall access in line with security standards
- Adhere to incident and change management processes
- Collaborate with technical teams and business owners for network operations and improvements
- Work with customers to develop testing and implementation schedules
- Maintain and update technical documentation
- Strong knowledge of network switching, routing, IP addressing, and Internet connectivity (10 years)
- Senior-level technical support in enterprise networking environments, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills (10 years)
- Thorough working knowledge of IP networking and security/firewall administration (10 years)
- Experience with advanced diagnostics, routing protocols, and WAN technologies (7 years)
- Experience with F5 and Visio (2 years)
- Cloud networking experience with AWS and Azure (1 years)
- Skills in Unix scripting languages (Perl, Bash, TCL, cURL)
- VMware implementation and administration experience
