SQL Server DBA - Remote

Job Description:

As a SQL Server DBA, you will manage and optimize Microsoft SQL Server database environments, including virtual machine (VM) servers. You will ensure best practices in database planning, design, configuration, performance, and capacity management, fostering the highest levels of reliability and performance. Collaborating with the DBA ITM1, you will help meet team goals, metrics, and provide strategic leadership in database architecture, innovation, and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide DBA support for distributed servers in a multi-datacenter environment
• Monitor and optimize SQL environment performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement solutions
• Offer technical assistance to application development teams on SQL design and programming
• Configure SQL services, plan and coordinate SQL Server releases, migrations, upgrades, and maintenance
• Collaborate with network, IIS administrators, and storage teams for SQL server configurations
• Develop technical documentation, project plans, and interact with customers for proposed solutions
• Provide support for deploying code and troubleshoot application issues
• Lead meetings related to database system design, implementation, and maintenance
• Design, configure, and set up SQL cluster nodes, monitor load balance, and optimize cluster parameters
• Implement log shipping, replication, and high-performance configurations for SQL environments
• Champion database innovation and automation, while supporting strategic capacity planning
• Lead incident resolution efforts and research new database products and solutions
  
  

Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:

• Experience supporting SQL Server in a multi-datacenter environment
• Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving SQL performance issues
• Proficiency in configuring SQL services, building environments, and managing upgrades
• Experience with DevOps tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Bitbucket, etc.)
• Strong technical leadership skills, with the ability to guide less experienced personnel
• Proven track record in designing high-performance SQL clusters and replication strategies
• Experience with Unix, Linux, and AIX operating systems in virtualized infrastructure environments
• SQL Server DBA certification preferred
  
  

The hourly range for roles of this nature are $50.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
