What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Lathe Machinist position at CyberX Info System?
Key Responsibilities:
- Program and operate CNC equipment in a low-volume, high-mix environment (5 changeovers daily).
- Develop new programs for CNC equipment to run newly designed parts and components.
- Analyse jobs to reduce setup times and maximize workflow.
- Conduct machine setups efficiently.
- Perform first-piece inspection using visual and hand inspection equipment such as Vernier callipers, micrometres, and dial indicators.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and programming teams for process improvements.
- Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and pieces using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Monitor CNC operations, ensuring proper lubrication and cooling during machine operation.
- Review program specifications or blueprints to determine operations, sequencing, dimensions, and control sequences.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High level of CNC programming experience.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
- Must be able to handle heavy items up to 50 lbs, including lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to stand for 8-10 hours.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- It must be reliable.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum five years’ experience in a machine shop, or three years' experience if you are a vocational school graduate.
- At least three years experience programming CNC equipment to produce precise parts.
- Knowledge of Haas controllers is a plus.
- Familiarity with basic machining practices and materials is an advantage.
