Job Title : Structural Mechanic
Location : Savannah, GA
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Structural Assembly and Fitting
Assemble detail parts and structures, performing drilling and riveting operations to meet specifications.
Riveting and Tool Use
Rivet structural assemblies and parts, including sheet metal components, using tools such as portable and pneumatic riveting guns, drills, countersinks, shavers, files, and reamers.
Blueprint and Document Reading
Review work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine operation sequence, rivet type, size, and hole pattern.
Quality Assurance
Inspect work to ensure defect-free assemblies before final inspection.
Documentation and Resource Planning
Maintain logs and records (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs), and log daily labor in the resource planning system against appropriate work orders and item numbers.
Alignment and Assembly
Align and assemble parts to be riveted, using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners.
Work Area Maintenance
Keep a clean and organized work area, support the 5S Program, and adhere to safety regulations.
Moderate Supervision
Perform assigned duties and tasks under moderate supervision.
Lean and Continuous Improvement
Support Lean activities and engage in continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities, including YIAW and Kaizen events.
- Keep shop and aircraft work areas clean and organized.
- Properly maintain and care for shop equipment and tools as assigned.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Technical Knowledge :
Basic understanding of aircraft structures, sheet metal, and fabrication processes.
Basic computer skills and shop math proficiency.
Must be able to work with composite resins and materials, lift up to 50 lbs, and work any shift.
