Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery (L&D)
Location: Monterey, California, 93940
Shift: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks with possible extensions
This role is ideal for a highly skilled professional passionate about maternal and neonatal care, capable of working in a fast-paced, Level 1 birthing center.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of labor and delivery, postpartum care, and PACU recovery (for mothers only).
- Circulate in the OR for cesarean sections (scrubbing experience is a bonus).
- Provide mother-baby couplet care in an LDRP environment.
- Titrate and manage drips, including magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and insulin.
- Read electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) strips using Philips EFM System.
- Float between L&D, postpartum, PACU, and mother-baby overflow units as needed.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience.
- Experience with mother/baby couplet care (LDRP).
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Active RN License.
- Current certifications in:
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN AFM)
- Basic Life Support (BLS - AHA)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (preferred).
- Comfortable with EPIC charting system.
- Strong skills and confidence in both L&D and postpartum care.
Work Environment:
- Level 1 birthing center with an average of 100 deliveries per month.
- 13 beds for labor, postpartum, and recovery.
- No midwives or midlevels on staff; RNs manage the entire labor process.
Schedule and Expectations:
- 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM).
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays as required.
- Flexibility to fill scheduling gaps and float to different units when needed.
- Orientation includes 3 shifts.
