Must-Have
- Dysrhythmia Exam completion through UNA required 24-48 hours prior to signing the contract. Maximum of 2 attempts allowed.
- Pass/Fail Sim Lab on the first day of orientation. Failure results in non-assignment for 6 months.
- 24-bed ICU with an average patient census of at least 12. Patients from step down are now intermixed within the ICU.
- Must be very familiar with gtt titration and EKG interpretation.
- Charge Nurse is available and acts as a rapid response nurse. The resource nurse can assist prior to involving the Charge Nurse.
- Primary care unit; no staffing with nurse aides.
- Must work into permanent staff rotation for holidays.
- Navy scrubs required.
- Must be able to float to telemetry or the monitor room.
- Common diagnoses/types of patients: Medical ICU cases, sepsis, CRRT, IABP, Impella, high-risk OB, psych holds with sitters, post-heart cath - pull sheaths.
- IABP, Impella, and CRRT managed by core staff.
- Nurses transport their own patients.
- Two shifts are allocated for floor-specific orientation.
- Uses Cerner charting system.
- 24/7 availability of Intensivists, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy.
