General job duties include caring for ventilated patients, initiating and titrating IV drips, and assisting with intubations and line placements.
Monitor critically ill patients with primary diagnoses such as sepsis, respiratory failure, renal failure, myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism, and pneumonia.
This is a mixed acuity unit with both ICU and progressive patients.
Equipment used includes heart monitors, EMR systems, medication dispensing units, EKG machines, and dopplers.
Candidates should have a strong background in critical care, flexibility, critical thinking and reasoning skills, and a team-oriented and personable demeanor.
The schedule includes three 12-hour shifts per week, with a greater need for weekend shifts.
Floating to other ICU, progressive, and medical-surgical units may occur, with a nurse-to-patient ratio maintained at 1:3 across the board.
The facility has a 24-bed Medical ICU and a 12-bed Progressive Care unit.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 for ICU patients and 1:3 for progressive care patients.
Dress code includes Caribbean blue scrubs, with jackets in black, white, or Caribbean blue.
Onboarding includes policy review and training for EMR systems with one day of unit-specific orientation.
