- Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Prepare and administer medications orally, subcutaneously, or through an IV and record prescribed medications.
- Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse.
- Educate patients on surgical procedures.
- Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients and interpret and record electronic displays.
- Initiate corrective action when patients display adverse symptomatology.
- Provide bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including those pre- and post-surgery.
- Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by a physician, teaching patients and significant others how to manage their illness or injury.
- Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
- Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.
- Participate in discharge planning.
- Utilize time management skills effectively.
- Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner and in the appropriate format.
- Must have ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association (RQI certifications will not be accepted).
- Texas RN license must be attached to the resume.
