This position is in a major trauma unit with a focus on ortho/neuro patient care.
Patient diagnoses include multi-trauma, seizures, gunshot wounds, falls, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, sepsis, psychiatric conditions, epidural hematomas, and cerebral edema.
Experience in craniotomy, spinal fusions, open reduction and internal fixation, muscle flaps, skin grafts, amputations, and spinal stimulators is essential.
The role requires handling special equipment such as traction, external fixators, PCA pumps, and wound vacs.
Candidates must manage chest tubes, ortho braces, central lines, and tracheostomy care.
Skills in blood product administration, PICC line management, starting IVs, and surgical drain care are necessary.
Isolation precautions and experience with neuro surgeries, TBIs, and ortho trauma are also required.
Every other holiday work is expected.
This role involves floating to all other inpatient units.
Specific scheduling requests cannot be guaranteed and scheduling is per unit needs.
COVID-19 and flu vaccines are mandatory unless a medical or religious exemption is provided.
Orientation consists of 8 hours of training.
