Job Description
- Department is Med/Tele focusing on cardiac care with a PCU level overflow.
- Unit has 32 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 during the day and occasional 5-6 at night.
- Common diagnoses include adults and geriatrics with cardiac history, cardiac caths, EP studies, pacers, and additional conditions like COVID-19, pneumonia, sepsis, and influenza.
- Tele/cardiac RN preferred, familiarity with Epic is beneficial, open to first-time travelers.
- Responsible for titrating drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low dose Dopamine, excluding Levo.
- Charge Nurses are present on each shift and may occasionally handle a light load of 2-3 patients.
- Nurse aides/patient care techs are available with a target ratio of 1:10.
- Handling of RT equipment is required, including trouble-shooting Bipap, trachs, and Airvo.
- Monitoring involves Tele portable monitors and room monitors with tech support available.
- RN is required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips.
- Flexible scheduling with minimal weekly rotation shift changes.
- Respond to float needs across several areas, including PCU, MS, and occasional ER holds/boarding.
- Dress code allows for scrubs of any color.
- Orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts, with nurse expected to be ready by the Sunday following orientation.
- More emphasis on tele/cardiac care in the unit.
- Candidates must not have active employment with any affiliated health facilities.
