Job Description
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and provide direct nursing care for a specified group of patients according to specific standards.
- Demonstrate ability to correctly perform head-to-toe physical assessments.
- Complete admission databases per policy.
- Perform and document routine assessments per policy.
- Initiate, review, and update care plans.
- Collaborate with other health team members in the care of the patient and/or family.
- Participate in discharge and transfer planning.
- Document accurately, timely, and completely while avoiding unacceptable abbreviations; use the proper format when taking verbal orders and signing off.
- Understand and utilize hospital and unit-specific policies, including standards for delivering safe patient care.
- Adhere to patient safety standards and be aware of relevant standards.
- Respond to and participate in unpredictable (emergency) situations quickly, calmly, and safely.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan.
- Communicate unmet needs or undesired effects of treatment to physicians.
- Participate in relevant committees and belong to professional organizations.
- Engage in continuing education beyond the mandatory requirements.
- Function as a preceptor and/or charge nurse when appropriate.
- Participate in network/community programs.
