Must-Have
- Temporary RN license accepted prior to start.
- Must hold an unencumbered nursing license prior to start.
- RN Residency Cohort: RN Graduate Work Authorization considered prior to start. The RN Graduate Work Authorization is valid for up to 90 days after issuance or upon notification of NCLEX results, whichever occurs first.
- Provide direct nursing care according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary for age-appropriate care for patients in the assigned unit.
- Facilitate the coordination of patient care within the interdisciplinary care team and provide patient education for safe discharge.
- Perform daily rounds on all patients ensuring quality customer service and addressing any unmet requirements.
- Develop a care plan based on assessments reflecting the patient's needs, including physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative considerations.
- Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions to meet those needs, including discharge planning.
- Promptly assess, intervene, and reassess the patient's self-report/symptoms of pain and take appropriate action.
- Identify early warning signs of changes in the patient's condition and respond appropriately, including contacting clinicians as dictated by protocol.
- Assist with or initiate emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patient conditions.
- Report observations and reactions regarding patients to the multidisciplinary team accurately and concisely, ensuring prompt interventions or referrals.
- Complete and submit incident reports (patient, visitor, staff) before the end of each shift.
- Establish and maintain communication and utilize educational opportunities with patients and significant others.
- Initiate discharge planning and provide appropriate education and counseling to optimize patient/family understanding.
- Evaluate and document according to protocols.
- Assign or delegate, within scope of practice, the responsibility for performance of nursing interventions, ensuring the assignee has the necessary skills and competence.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
- Holiday coverage required.
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
