Must-Have

• Temporary RN license accepted prior to start.
• Must hold an unencumbered nursing license prior to start.
• RN Residency Cohort: RN Graduate Work Authorization considered prior to start. The RN Graduate Work Authorization is valid for up to 90 days after issuance or upon notification of NCLEX results, whichever occurs first.
  
  

Job Description

• Provide direct nursing care according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary for age-appropriate care for patients in the assigned unit.
• Facilitate the coordination of patient care within the interdisciplinary care team and provide patient education for safe discharge.
• Perform daily rounds on all patients ensuring quality customer service and addressing any unmet requirements.
• Develop a care plan based on assessments reflecting the patient's needs, including physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative considerations.
• Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions to meet those needs, including discharge planning.
• Promptly assess, intervene, and reassess the patient's self-report/symptoms of pain and take appropriate action.
• Identify early warning signs of changes in the patient's condition and respond appropriately, including contacting clinicians as dictated by protocol.
• Assist with or initiate emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patient conditions.
• Report observations and reactions regarding patients to the multidisciplinary team accurately and concisely, ensuring prompt interventions or referrals.
• Complete and submit incident reports (patient, visitor, staff) before the end of each shift.
• Establish and maintain communication and utilize educational opportunities with patients and significant others.
• Initiate discharge planning and provide appropriate education and counseling to optimize patient/family understanding.
• Evaluate and document according to protocols.
• Assign or delegate, within scope of practice, the responsibility for performance of nursing interventions, ensuring the assignee has the necessary skills and competence.
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
• Holiday coverage required.
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
