Job Title : Respiratory Therapist Job Specialty : CardioPulmonary Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-hour shifts Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum 2 years preferred License : Active state license required Certifications : NRPPALs, NRP, PALS, BLS (required), RRT (preferred) Must-Have : Friendly and compassionate bedside manner, ability to work independently and as a team player, good communication skills, sound clinical judgment, knowledge of respiratory diseases and conditions, and adherence to infection-control practices Job Description : - Assist with patient goals and needs by providing quality care. - Conduct pulmonary function tests; assess and interpret evaluations and test results. - Determine respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with the patient's physician. - Administer medicated inhalants; operate and manage mechanical ventilators, BIPAP therapy, and therapeutic gas administration apparatus. - Support life through environmental control systems, aerosol generators, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. - Perform broncho-pulmonary drainage, assist with breathing exercises, and monitor physiological and clinical responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, SPO2 levels, and clinical appearance. - Be present for newborn deliveries and C-sections, assess the newborn, and provide necessary interventions such as ventilation, CPAP therapy, and suctioning. - Assist in discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare workers. - Document patient care services in patient and department records. - Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. - Ensure proper equipment operation by performing pre-test calibrations and maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and requesting repairs as needed. - Maintain professional and technical knowledge through in-service training programs, educational workshops, and professional societies. - Comply with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements by staying informed on existing and new legislation.
