Guaranteed Hours: Experience:
Two years of recent scrubbing experience in an acute-care facility is preferred.
License: State License Required
Certifications:
- BLS (AHA), Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) within one year of hire (must be maintained throughout employment)
Requirements:
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (Accreditation Review Committee/Education in Surgical Technology)
• Individuals trained in the armed forces will be considered
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, effective, and quality patient-family-centered care in the operating room
- Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures
- Understand the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon
- Vigilantly maintain the sterile field
- Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization
- Perform tasks in a physically demanding, high-stress environment
- Be prepared for potential exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
- Push and pull heavy objects; must be able to utilize the full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients
- Exhibit manual and finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination
- Stand and walk for extensive periods
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds
- Ensure corrected vision and hearing are within normal range
On-Call Requirements:
• Be on call 2-3 nights per week
• Work every 3rd weekend
