Project Overview:
- As part of this role, the Province is expanding the Government s digital delivery of services with the view of simplifying and providing better user experiences with interactions with the Government.
- The Digital Design and Delivery Division ( 3D ), is the Province s centre for digital delivery.
- It was established to maximize capability and confidence in modern digital practice by ensuring service quality and value through standards and controls.
- This includes utilizing human-centre design approaches together with agile methodology and modern data practices.
- The Province requires up (2) Cloud DevOps Engineer to work with 3D on their Openshift Cluster.
- These resources will provide subject matter expertise and additional capacity to the operational team.
- Duties will include support for Openshift environments (cloud and on premise hosted), management of the clusters, implementation of best practices, and frequent engagement with developers, DevOps lead, product owners, project managers, senior leadership.
- It is anticipated that the Cloud DevOps Engineer will be required for one year; however, the Province may extend the contract for up to twenty-four months on the same terms and conditions.
- Services and project deliverables should evolve as the work progresses, in response to emerging user and business needs, as well as design and technical opportunities.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain OpenShift clusters on-premise and in the cloud (Azure, AWS, etc.).
- Monitor and optimize cluster health, performance, and capacity across environments.
- Implement security best practices, including RBAC, encryption, and regular patching.
- Automate cluster provisioning, scaling, and updates using tools like Ansible, Helm, and Terraform.
- Implement backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and ensure high availability.
- Diagnose and resolve cluster and application issues in a timely manner.
- Plan and execute cluster upgrades, ensuring security and stability.
- Work closely with DevOps and development teams to support application deployment and troubleshooting.
- Maintain documentation and share knowledge on best practices and troubleshooting.
- Manage and integrate hybrid OpenShift clusters across on-prem and cloud environments for seamless operation.
- The Province and the Contractor shall determine changes to Services and Materials as required.
- In the event that the Cloud DevOps Engineer are directed to work remotely, the Cloud DevOps Engineer shall be responsible for providing all of its equipment, including computers, software, printers, supplies, desks and chairs.
- However, the Province shall ensure that the Cloud DevOps Engineer have the necessary access and credentials to the Government system.
- In the event that, the Cloud DevOps Engineer are directed to work in-person, the Province shall provide the requisite office space, furniture and office supplies.
- However, the Cloud DevOps Engineer shall continue to be responsible for providing computers and software and the Province shall continue to ensure that the Cloud DevOps Engineer have the necessary access and credentials to the Government system.
- The virtual meeting tool for the Province is Microsoft Teams.
- Zoom may be sometimes used when needed, however, Zoom accounts are not provided by the Province.
- The evaluation criteria will be distributed within the following categories.
- Subject to the requirements of FOIP, the evaluation of Responses shall be confidential, and not released to any party.
- Qualifications- 40%.
- Interview - 50%.

- Experience directly managing Kubernetes environments. 3 years
- Experience managing a production service in an enterprise using cloud-based infrastructure and/or using Infrastructure as Code. 3 years
- Experience supporting Linux operating systems. 3 years
- Experience with performance monitoring and troubleshooting. 3 years
- Experience with replicating environments (either manually or through Infrastructure as code). 2 years
- Experience working in or for the public sector. 2 years
- Experience as a DevOps Specialist supporting the continuous delivery of custom-built solutions. 1 years
- Experience directly managing Red Hat OpenShift environments. 2 years
- Experience in the Government environment or an environment of equivalent size and complexity. 1 years
- Experience with Disaster Recovery architectures, processes and tests. 2 years
