Job Description:
- The Senior SQL Snowflake Data Analyst/Data Visualization Analyst will provide analysis and leadership on data analysis projects across the DPI enterprise focusing on School Business Data.
- Currently, the enterprise is a complex, multi-platform data environment (including some legacy Mainframe) consisting of Amazon AWS/Snowflake and Microsoft Azure, along with Tableau and Power BI.
- Technologies in use include Oracle, DB2, MySQL, and SQL Server, Tableau and Power BI, as well as desktop-based applications such as MS Access and MS Excel.
- DPI aims to establish an enterprise data model with a primary goal of standardizing shared data entities and attributes and a secondary goal of standardizing database management systems and tools.
- School Business and HR/other data will be hosted in Snowflake running in AWS, generally using SQL Server.
- The Senior Snowflake Data Analyst/Data Visualization Analyst will provide analysis and leadership on data analysis projects across the DPI enterprise focusing on School Business Data.
- Candidate will provide insight to other data analysts, data architects, and application developers related to creating an enterprise data model that meets DPI's business and technical requirements.
- Candidate will also provide subject matter expertise.
- Experience with SQL databases and related ETL/validations in Snowflake and data visualization using Tableau (and also Power BI).
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a technology related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) with a focus on data analysis, data structure, data visualization.
- Proven track record of solving real world problems using data. Excellent critical thinking skills is a must have for this role.
- Understanding of different database platforms: Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, and MS Access.
- Understanding of Data Warehousing and data mining.
- Understanding of modeling strategies (dimensional, snowflake, relational, unstructured).
- Experience designing and delivering data mapping specifications for large reporting platforms.
- Writing and maintaining business rules using SQL logic.
- Demonstrated experience in writing ad-hoc SQL statements.
- Strong interest in playing a technical data steward role across our business and technology partners to understand and detail our data, appropriate.
- Proven experience with ERD/Data Modelling tools (Toad or others).
- Experience in executing projects in an Agile / Hybrid environment.
- Demonstrated technical ability in learning new technologies and adapting to frequent changes in the technical environment.
- Experience with data reporting tools especially Tableau (and preferrable also Power BI, Viya, others).
