Job Description:
- Understanding and experience with project management methodology.
- An in-depth understanding of distributed computing using N-tier, distributed processing, client/server, and Internet/intranet technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of network infrastructures, virtualization, LANs; VLANs; WANs; WLANs; SANs; RTLS; VPN; TCP/IP; session initiation protocol (SIP); Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2); videoconferencing; firewalls, voice, data and unified communications (UCS); and programming techniques.
- Experience with the implementation of both COTS and customized enterprise networks.
- Experience developing technical and non-technical solutions for supporting business process reengineering.
- Experience with large scale projects crossing myriad functional areas using state-of-the-art technologies.
- Experience acting as liaison between business and technical staff.
- Experience developing/reviewing assessment tools.
- Experience with performing impact technical analysis.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation and interviewing/facilitation skills.
- Able to produce accurate and thorough technical documentation.
- Experience with developing and reviewing technical requirements, designs and implementation plans.
- The Advanced Technology Specialist must have Technical Lead experience on large, complex automation/IT infrastructure implementation projects.
- CCNP, CCIE, Certified Cisco Specialist or equivalent experience is required.
- Eight (8) years experience is the minimum preferred for the proposed Advanced Technology Specialist.
- Technology Specialist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform technical analysis of the current “as-built” network/infrastructure for the purpose of designing and implementing a new secure IT network/infrastructure solution.
- Conduct feasibility studies.
- Gather and define business, functional and technical requirements definition.
- Perform data modeling, process modeling and prototyping, and create conceptual and detailed architecture/designs (network and security), detailed specifications, IT infrastructure implementation plans, and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product integration plans.
- Install, configure, integrate and test (all levels) IT infrastructure components/systems (custom and COTS).
- Provide IT infrastructure/systems support and transition knowledge to operations and maintenance support staff.
- Create technical documentation and training materials.
- Perform product/system research and review.
- Support the development of technical requirements for RFI/RFP/IFBs.
- Evaluate proposals submitted in response to issued RFI/RFP/IFBs.
- Perform IT planning, systems conversion and/or migration.
- Support the development of disaster recovery plans.
- Work with the Senior Architect to assure continuity of planned technologies.
- Review technical documents produced by the Developer or other external sources.
- Perform technical architecture and other deliverable reviews for large-scale projects.
- Assist the Client Project Manager with technical work breakdown structures and technical cost estimation.
- Assist with issue and risk management.
- Assist in any development and review of project management and technical documentation.
- Perform tasks as assigned by the Client Project Manager.
