About the Company - Our client, a New York branch of an International Bank, is seeking a SOX Consultant for a period of 3-4 months.
About the Role - Responsibilities include:
- Understanding our business processes and control environment considering generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory compliance for SOX
- Performing SOX walkthroughs and documenting SOX process and control activities via flowcharts, narratives, matrices and test scripts, etc.
- Executing tests of controls, summarizing and communicating the results / findings to key stakeholders
- Ensuring appropriate evidence is obtained. Review and provide feedback to control owners on the adequacy and sufficiency of control documentation.
- Assisting in the ongoing remediation of SOX related issues. Remediate deficiencies through collaboration with process and control owners
- Liaise with the external/internal auditors and assist with coordinating requests/deliverables
- Collaborating with external consultants to ensure sufficient documentation and adequate design and testing of controls
- Maintaining status tracker of assigned testing
- Build strong relationships with process owners and control performers, Internal audit team, and external auditors
- Managing multiple competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3 or more years in public accounting and/or private industry experience with strong knowledge of internal controls
- Previous experience with SOX
- Clear understanding of audit methodologies
- Ability to operate independently
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving (with strong attention to detail) skills.
- Strong verbal, written communication and collaboration skills
- Effective project management skills
- Experience working with various levels of management to drive adherence to policies and deadlines
