Elementary P.E. Teacher with Secondary Coaching Responsibilities
This position is for the 25-26 school year with start date of August, 2025.
SUMMARY OF POSITION, FUNCTION AND DUTIES
This position is for a full-time opportunity that includes a part-time Elementary P.E. teacher in combination with Secondary Coaching and Secondary Athletic Period duties. Under the direction of the elementary principal, the P.E. Teacher is assigned to teach students and to fulfill the mission of honoring the Lord Jesus Christ by providing students an education based upon academic excellence and biblical values. The school administration may assign additional duties or specify other functions needed as may be appropriate for specific faculty posts.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
PERSONAL BELIEF & BEHAVIOR
· Must be a born-again Christian whose lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Scriptures, and express agreement with the doctrinal viewpoints and Christian lifestyle requirements of the school.
· Must be able to serve as a positive Christian role model to others in the CCS school context.
· Must be able to accept and support the school’s philosophy and statement of faith and doctrine.
· Must have an understanding of and commitment to CCS’s educational objectives and philosophy of education.
· Must possess sufficient biblical knowledge that enables the individual to integrate Scripture into subjects taught, sports coached, or their other job duties, thus imparting to students a biblical worldview position.
· Must faithfully attend a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the statement of faith and doctrine of this school.
· Must affirm that he/she believes that working and ministering in this Christian school would be pleasing to God, would be consistent with his/her purpose in life, and would be a good stewardship of his/her time, talent, and professional abilities.

PROFESSIONAL
· Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree. Graduate degrees desirable.
· Must possess a valid teaching certificate (ACSI or State of Texas).
· Must have excellent knowledge of subject matter and be effective in teaching and maintaining appropriate classroom discipline.
· All new teachers to CCS must apply for and receive temporary ACSI certification within (6) months of commencing teaching before being eligible to be considered for a new contract.
· All new teachers must complete the ACSI Philosophy of Christian Education course or its approved equivalent prior to starting the second year of employment.
· All continuing CCS teachers must maintain current ACSI certification to be eligible to be considered for a new contract.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
The expectations for teacher performance are defined as specific Performance Standards. The teacher is then evaluated on his/her effectiveness in meeting or exceeding each standard. Performance Standards refer to the major duties performed by a teacher. Performance Indicators provide examples of observable, tangible behaviors that will occur if a standard is being successfully met. The standards are listed below:
· Performance Standard 1: Planning and Preparation
The teacher demonstrates clearly written lesson plans, states objectives for lessons to students, develops a logical progression to lesson presentations, coordinates lessons with Atlas, designs coherent instruction that is date driven, uses a variety of resources to meet learning goals, identifies and plans for the instructional needs of all students, plans for adequate assessment of student achievement.
· Performance Standard 2: Implementation
The teacher uses a variety of instructional strategies, uses effective questioning strategies, uses effective use of teaching time, makes smooth transitions from one area of lesson to another, involves most students in lesson, properly assesses and checks for understanding, provides for reteaching/extending the lesson when needed, and the use of technology is age appropriate.
· Performance Standard 3: Student Participation
The teacher actively engages all students in activities, makes eye contact with students regularly, demonstrates “with-it-ness” - aware of all classroom behaviors (students are on task and using appropriate technology policies), consistently enforces the CCS Handbook (dress code, disciplinary procedures, and documentation).
· Performance Standard 4: Classroom Environment
The following are observed in the classroom: A sense of respect for the teacher, a sense of respect from student to student, the teacher seems to be fair and consistent, the teacher maintains professionalism and upholds employee role model standards, evidence that positive reinforcement is used, the teacher demonstrates good listening skills, enough focus among the students to allow all to learn, room is organized well with both Biblical and subject-specific themes.
· Performance Standard 5: Subject Matter Knowledge
Demonstrates thorough knowledge in the following: Subject content of the class, developmental level of the students in the class, applications of subject matter to life, integration within the disciplines, higher level thinking/application encouraged, appropriate Biblical integration.
