** Seeking a motivated OR nurse to join a fast-paced fun team. No weekends, nights, or holidays!!! Ideal candidate will have experience in orthopedics, pain management, and /or Total joints. Operating room RN provides safe, effective, and quality patient centered care in the perioperative setting for all patient populations **
The OR Registered Nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of his/her assigned patients. He/she is also responsible for the supervision of assigned personnel. The position requires knowledge of both department and ambulatory surgery center policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultative associations, along with management and supervisory skills are inherent in this position. The ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in a written, auditory or visual fashion is essential. The primary method to express or exchange ideas is through the spoken word. Written, telephone and manual dexterity skills are required for this position. Communicate with Physicians when necessary. File chart notes and other medical information in appropriate chart, following proper charting procedures.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Possess knowledge of planned procedure
- Assist anesthesia staff with induction, intra-operative management and emergency resulting from anesthesia
- Administers medication safely and accurately utilizing the seven rights (Right patient, medication, dose, time, route, documentation& right to refuse treatment)
- Plans for proposed surgical intervention by selecting appropriate equipment and supplies
- Assess each patient in the holding unit and verifies patient information, allergies, planned procedure and surgical site
- Perform item counts to include sponges, sharps and instruments as per center policy. Takes appropriate corrective action, is item count is not acceptable. Reports to Nurse Manager immediately.
- Documents all implantable devices or materials in medical records and log book
- Documents and communicates patient status, surgical intervention and pertinent information to post-op care givers following procedure(s).
- Before opening any supplies, check package integrity
- Upon arrival of the surgeon in the surgical area, anesthesia provider and the circulating nurse will take the patient to the O.R. room
- Be available to assist anesthesia if needed while patient is being intubated. Keep room as quiet as possible during induction
- Be readily available to anticipate the needs of the doctor, anesthesiologist, and the scrub nurse
- Performs special assignment as outlined and defined by Charge Nurse and/or Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Minimum of one-year related experience
- Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida
- Certified Basic Life Support/ACLS/PALS, AIDS, Domestic Violence, Medical Errors and Ergonomics.
- Knowledge OSHA, HIPAA, AHCA regulations, and Joint Commission accrediting organization regulations
- Effective communication skills: oral, written, and presentation.
- Effective positive interpersonal and customer relations skills via telephone and face-to-face interaction.
- Maintains Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) as required by Florida Clinical Board
- Keeps job related skills current
- Maintains regular attendance
- Flexible schedule due to duration of cases
- Possess knowledge of modern office equipment, systems and procedures, computer skills
