We are a family owned and operated eye health center in the Cypress community. We have been in private practice for over 20 years and continue to passionately educate our patients on eye health practices. We are looking for a positive, motivated and energetic Ophthalmic Assistant who desires to grow and advance with our practice.

The ideal candidate should have strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills. We are willing to train the right candidate. Some experience in an optical, optometrist or ophthalmologist office is a major plus.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performing administrative duties, such as answering office phones, managing prescriptions, customer records, and verifying and filing insurance.
  • Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information. Performs testing required by type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and history.
  • Acts as scribe while physician examines patient entering data into electronic medical records or handwrites in paper chart, oversees patient flow.
  • Takes an ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity.
  • Performs lensometry, refractometry, applanation tonometry, basic muscle balance testing, assess pupils, assess the anterior chamber, confrontation visual fields and gross external exam.
  • Administers diagnostic tests.
  • Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
  • Assists with in-office procedures ensuring proper informed consent is obtained, sets up and cleans up from procedures.
  • Assists with patient education.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday
  • Maintains positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Contributes to the team effort by completing additional tasks/projects as needed.
  • Assist with contact lens fitting, and patient instruction
  • Maintain inventory on trial contact lenses.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent years related experience preferred
  • COA/COT certification preferred but not required
  • Ophthalmic and or optometric technician experience preferred
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames. Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly with attention to all details of a project or task.
  • Team player that develops strong collaborative working relationships with internal partners and can effectively engage and ability to build consensus among cross-functional teams.

Hours: NO WEEKENDS

Monday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm

Tuesday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm

Wednesday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm

Thursday 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
