SUMMARY:
The Life Enrichment Director will be responsible for coordinating all activities to meet the needs of each resident individually, and as a group; maintaining adequate records and keeping all resident matters confidential. The Life Enrichment Director will build and supervise the volunteer service program in the facility. The Life Enrichment Director’s services will be in conjunction with the services of all facility departments and will be under the direct supervision of the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
- The Life Enrichment Director supervises the Chaplain, Transportation, and all Life Enrichment Assistants, including the Memory Cottage.
- Involve residents in the planning of the Life Enrichment program through the Resident Council, suggestion box, individual interviews, etc. and provide them the opportunity to assist with activities and assist other residents in participation.
- Provide an activity calendar at least one month in advance that includes the following group activities: recreational, both indoor and outdoor, social, spiritual, intellectual, educational, creative, expressive, physical with an emphasis on wellness and out of facility trips
- Supervise the activity or those leading the activity to ensure the protection of the residents and compliance with safety regulations and policies,
- Participate in budget planning of the Life Enrichment Department and keep expenses within set guidelines.
- Arrange and supervise all aspects of transportation including medical transportation as well as out of facility trips and additional for fee transportation programs in the community for residents.
- Review and update activity policies and procedures at least annually, act as a liaison for residents to access various services that they may need
Qualifications
- Have two years of experience in social/recreational programming within the last five years, one of which has full-time in a resident activity program in the health care or long term care setting and a two year Associates Degree.
- Have a strong knowledge of the various types of activities needed in a long term care facility; an understanding of the abilities, limitations and special needs of the elderly resident
- Have the ability to communicate effectively and cooperate with the staff, residents, family members, the community and leadership abilities
- CDL passenger endorsement required within 90 days of hire
