The Life Enrichment Staff Person will be responsible for delivering, planning, organizing and implementing a program of planned activities to meet the individual needs of the resident that will give them opportunities to meet emotional, physical, spiritual, cognitive and creative needs and interests. Works with all levels of care.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds & push wheelchairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To plan monthly calendar of activities for Assisted Living and Health Care.
- To lead designated group and individual activities per monthly calendar and as assigned.
- Assist in posting resident calendars in the individual room by the first of each month.
- To decorate halls and bulletin boards with seasonal decorations.
- To read mail to residents when requested as well as delivery of mail.
- Assist with group and individual volunteers as assigned.
- To drive the facility’s bus and car for outings.
- To attend meetings as requested by the Director of Life Enrichment.
- To greet, encourage, and invite new residents to activities.
- Conduct one on one visits with those residents who do not attend scheduled activities.
- Document the resident’s progress in quarterly notes and annual assessment updates. Participates with the care plan team.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license. CDL Class C with passenger endorsement is required within 90 days of hire.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Must have a 2 year degree. Experience with long-term care or having worked with the geriatric population would be helpful. A knowledge and willingness to try all types of activities is necessary. Recreational Therapy graduate preferred.
