Field Service Engineer
This exciting role will be responsible for ensuring the customers' processing and packaging machinery operate at peak performance and serve as a technical expert. A solid understanding of industrial automation and packaging equipment and troubleshooting skills will be needed to be successful in this role. They are headquartered in the Auburn, WA area. Responsibilities:
- Needs a proactive, positive attitude and involves regular travel (50-70% of the time) to various customer sites across the Pacific Northwest
- The position consists of Industrial Equipment servicing and troubleshooting, about 80% of the time, and Industrial Automation equipment integration and installation, about 20% of the time.
- Travel to customer locations on service calls; interact with customers to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair their equipment. (Disassembly and reassembly of machinery, overhaul gearboxes, replace bearings, replace sensors, etc.)
- Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, layout drawings, electrical schematics, and bills of materials
- Perform preventative maintenance activities on customer equipment
- Fix-break troubleshooting on down equipment. (Replacement of critical parts, PCBs, Timing belts, conveyor motors, etc.)
- Interpret electrical schematics to repair electrical componentry or wiring
- Identify potential machine failures and problems that may impact customer equipment
- Work with the scheduling team to identify the proper amount of time required for service calls
- Complete relevant service reports and logging of hours, components, etc., used during service calls
- Ensure overall customer satisfaction through excellent customer service and communication
- Machinery integration and installation activities
- Assist in technical activities with suppliers & engineering team
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing and installation of new equipment as needed
- Provide technical recommendations on projects
Qualifications:
- Available to travel either by car or by air (50-70% of the time) within the Pacific Northwest area as required by job, including overnight visits at various times.
- Ability to work on-site in Auburn for shop work when needed.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two-year technical or trade school degree. A degree in Electronics, Engineering, Electrical, or equivalent is preferred.
- 5 years of industrial mechanical and electrical maintenance experience is required.
- 5,000 hours of experience refurbishing, repairing, and troubleshooting manufacturing, processing, or packaging equipment is preferred.
- Technical certifications (Electrical, robotics, specific machine maintenance) are preferred.
- Strong aptitude and understanding for troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems and processes
- Knowledge and experience with packaging equipment and materials
- Ability to complete all responsibilities in a timely and professional manner while maintaining quality
- Excellent problem-solving skills for complex systems; able to analyze, research, and gauge when making decisions
- Effective written and oral communication skills at all levels of the organization and with customers
- Demonstrates ability and willingness to learn; owns mistakes and seeks to increase knowledge
Salary Range:
- $70,000-100,000 depending on experience.
