Project Infrastructure Engineer
Our client is undertaking a project to move services between existing offices and a new data center colocation. The Project Infrastructure Engineer will be required to provide technical networking consultation to IT support staff, engineering teams, and end-users support of this business initiative. The role will include setup and configuration of new and existing equipment in all locations, service migrations, troubleshooting and require good project organization. This position reports to the Infrastructure Engineer, IT Infrastructure Engineering (UK) and is based in Burbank, CA, USA. There will be heavy interaction with team members in other regions especially Wroclaw, Poland.
Responsibilities :
Data center installation and racking of network & server equipment
Cisco & Arista hardware and operating systems, including Cisco Catalyst and Cisco Nexus switching.
Network routing protocols, including TCP / IP, OSPF and BGP.
Meraki switch and access point experience and / or 802.11 a / b / g / n standards.
Preferred experience working with ISPs and vendors to provision network services
Expectations :
Delivery / Execution : Will require working independently to manages the execution of the project including the definition of deliverables and milestones, reporting the status of the project, and coordination with internal business partners and external partners to deliver the project on time and on budget.
Coordination & Communication : Will be regularly required to communicate with project team members, vendors and stakeholders to ensure that all are aligned in order to reach project milestones on time. Should be approachable and cultivate good working relationships.
Work Plan Management : Creates and executes detailed project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
Qualifications :
5 years of IT systems engineering or systems integration experience with background and knowledge in Networking, Servers, Virtualization, IP protocols and managing IT environments.
Experience working as a resource as a part of a project team
Experience installing, racking, cabling and administering network LAN / WAN hardware and systems, i.e. Cisco and Meraki switches, routers, out-of-band access, UPS, etc. Cisco certifications desired (CCNA, CCNP).
Experience with Arista switching platforms is beneficial
Experience migrating services (i.e Internet, Storage, Servers) from one site to another
Experience working with vendors and ISPs for service setup and configuration
Experience with Wireless technologies (Meraki),
Basic understanding / knowledge of firewall rules is desirable
Basic knowledge of VMWare and working with virtualization technologies
Strong planning and project coordination skills.
Strong written and verbal business communication skills
Job Expectations :
This role will require travel between the Burbank office locations and data center for installation and support of equipment
Occasionally work during odd hours to support project go-lives or coordinate with team members in other time zones for critical projects
Performs duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
