Cypress Healthcare Partners in Monterey has an opening for a full-time Payment Specialist. This is a daily onsite position . Responsibilities include posting remittance advice containing payments and denials and reviewing and posting correspondence in addition to verification and balancing checks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES :

  • Posting remittance advice containing payments and denials accurately and efficiently by end of month
  • Reviewing and posting correspondence.
  • Identifying payer issues and ERA / EFT issues
  • Balancing batch totals daily
  • Updating insurance coverages when necessary
  • Handling undistributed credits
  • Analyzes reimbursement issues, such as accuracy
  • Handling credits and refunds accurately according to operational protocols
  • Identifies duplicate payments and handles according to protocol
  • Communicates with leadership regarding process and ERA / EFT / lockbox issues
  • Any other assigned responsibilities not identified in the above key items.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Understanding of medical billing and the revenue cycle.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and written. Additional languages desirable.
  • Excellent customer service and phone etiquette skills.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and work well under productivity standards.
  • Able to prioritize and balance workload on short and long-term company needs.
  • Must be able to work independently and be able to solve problems efficiently and accurately.
  • Able to create channels of communication to obtain information necessary to perform job tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a high-volume workload.
  • Helpful attitude, positive teamwork spirit with a willingness to help.
  • Bilingual preferred

    • CREDENTIALS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical field / accounting / accounts receivable / cash posting / banking.
