OR Assistant- Full Time

**Rate of pay depends upon Experience**

GENERAL SUMMARY

Preforms indirect patient care duties to assist with safe patient flow throughout the surgical suite. Assists staff with room turnover, patient positioning and assists in general housekeeping duties of the OR and maintenance of equipment and instruments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Maintains a clean, safe and orderly operative environment.

· Reports any nonfunctional or broken equipment to the OR Director.

· Daily temp logs: all OR rooms, blanket warmers, medication refrigerators.

· Stock warmer fluids.

· Daily checklists: crash cart, MH cart, difficult airway cart

· Ensure linen cart is stocked continuously throughout the day, communicate with EVS about needs.

· Ensures all movable equipment is safely stored

· Ensures all supplies are removed from passageways, hallways, and are stored in appropriate place.

· Help pull cases when needed

· Grab supplies for Circulators during Total Joint replacements

· Clean and transport equipment from room to room between cases

· Help in adequately positioning patients for surgical procedures under the direction of the OR RN

· Turn over rooms between cases; taking out trash, sweepings, mopping, removing unneeded equipment, wiping down equipment, opening for cases.

· Assists in maintaining adequate inventory levels

· Transporting instruments to and from ORs to sterile processing and decontam between cases

· Making sure PPE is appropriately stocked throughout the Operating room

· Ensuring supply par is adequate at the end of shift every day in each OR

· Ensuring all additional equipment is stored in designated area at end of shift

· Preparing rooms and equipment for following day of surgery if necessary

OR Tech Skills

· Demonstrates a consistent high degree of accuracy in the accomplishments of daily activities.

· Assists OR RN with positioning or moving patients

· Cost effectively maintains adequate supplies and equipment in appropriate working condition.

· Maintains a clean, safe, OR environment.

· Reports damaged instruments to Director of Surgical Services and follows proper procedure for damaged instrument and/or equipment.

· Other duties as assigned/ required.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

· High school Graduate or Equivalent

· Some medical knowledge preferred

• BLS

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $14.75 per hour
