What are the responsibilities and job description for the Geologist position at Cyrq Energy?
The Geologist will drive exploration activities, evaluate acquisition opportunities, and support existing field reservoir management. The Geologist is expected to synthesize technical findings and influence business decisions related to subsurface resources across the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
Geothermal Subsurface Resource Management
- Steward reservoir management plans and make actionable recommendations designed to maintain or improve commercial viability of the existing geothermal resources throughout plant operations.
- Develop and execute exploration and/or make up well plans, including geologic mapping, constructing 3D geologic models, integrating legacy and vendor-collected data, and maturing drilling targets.
- Evaluate and mature green and brownfield sites for acquisition or development compatible with market and transmission opportunities.
- Collect fluid samples for analysis, travel to drilling sites, inform decisions regarding drilling activities, i.e., casing points, logging intervals, etc.
- Collaborate with subsurface, engineering, and power plant operations teams to optimize plant output and ensure system reliability.
- Propose initiatives to improve geoscience outcomes.
Organizational Support
- Collaborate or coordinate with internal and external stakeholders or vendors to achieve desired outcomes.
- Work with Health and Safety and Resource leaders to establish and implement best practices for safe operations in the field and office.
- Participate in peer review of subsurface technical products.
- Adhere to, supports, and helps enforce all company safety and environmental rules, policies, and procedures.
- Complete all required safety, process, equipment, or related trainings by deadlines.
Requirements:
- Masters degree or higher in Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Science, or a related field.
- One or more years of experience working with reservoir or aquifer data that includes geologic data (internship or direct work) preferred.
- Experience with geothermal reservoir management preferred.
- Proficiency with ArcGIS, Office 365, and Leapfrog are preferred.
- Experience with land and lease capture, drilling, and drilling permitting are preferred.
- Ability to complete domestic travel, up to 25%, at times with short notice.
- Valid drivers license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills and ability to indirectly motivate others to a common goal.
- Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences including technicians, engineers, stakeholders, vendors, and partners.

- On-site position based in Reno, Nevada.

Salary : $85,000 - $130,000
