- Appropriate state life insurance license or ability to obtain one.
- Knowledge of state laws governing applicable state's insurance department and funeral homes, preferred.
- Naturally skilled in nurturing and building strong relationships.
- Proficient with computers and technology.
- A clear driving record with the ability to travel to many locations.
- Must be well acquainted and successfully utilizing current forms of communication, such as e-mail, texting, etc.
- The ability to operate a business independent of supervision and shadowing.
The Pre-Need Sales Agent, an independent sales producer, is contracted to assist families in prearranging and prefunding their funeral services on behalf of Cyrus Life Insurance Company.
They are responsible for:
- Generating new business for the funeral home by attending appointments at the funeral home, customer's homes or a preset meeting place.
- Organizing local events or seminars and creating referrals.
- Educating perspective customers on the funeral industry and the goods and services provided by the funeral home.
- Complete any required training.
- Maintain relationships with key accounts.
- Build relationships with funeral home team members.
- Required to attend certain company trainings and events, including, but not limited to, introductory training with Cyrus Life Insurance Company management, weekly or scheduled pre-need sales meeting with appropriate management.
- Ability to utilize web portal and current software.
A generous portion of time will be spent generating sales away from the funeral home location. This could mean customer's homes, local restaurants or other establishments willing to house seminar events, and other locations where the Market Sales Director deems necessary to solicit new business.
Schedules are determined by the independent Pre-Need Sales Agent. The pre-Need Sales Agent will be given the opportunity to work location duty days at the designed funeral homes, but not required to do so. If the Agent chooses to take a floor-duty day, they agree to the responsibilities. Floor-duty includes assisting walk-in families, assisting callers with information about their prearrangements, assisting with pre-need transfers, and helping customers with purchase of monuments.
The Market Sales Director will determine where to travel in order to generate new business.
