Position Overview:
Cyrus Peirce Middle School seeks a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher. This position requires an educator experienced in both special education and reading instruction. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of differentiated instruction, an ability to foster student growth, and a commitment to supporting the literacy development of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
•Deliver specialized reading instruction to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in alignment with district and state standards.
•Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to students’ individual needs, focusing on reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and overall literacy skills.
•Use a variety of evidence-based instructional strategies, accommodations, and assistive technologies to support students with varying disabilities, including learning disabilities, developmental delays, and emotional/behavioral challenges.
•Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor progress toward IEP goals and maintain accurate records on student performance.
•Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement, independence, and success.
•Collaborate closely with general education teachers, special education staff, reading specialists, and other support personnel to align instructional strategies and resources.
•Communicate effectively with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.
•Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development sessions, as required.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in special education, Literacy, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
•Valid Massachusetts teaching certification with an endorsement in Moderate Disabilities (Grades 5-12) or Special Education required; Reading certification strongly preferred.
•Experience in special education reading instruction, preferably with middle school students.
•Knowledge of specialized reading interventions, literacy assessments, and individualized instruction methods.
•Strong classroom management skills and ability to foster a structured and supportive learning environment.
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a team-oriented approach.
Salary : $77,425 - $130,688
