Position Overview:
The Bioinformatics Scientist will leverage computational expertise to solve complex biological problems, particularly focusing on protein structure dynamics, immune response analysis, and vaccine design. This role involves developing advanced in silico tools, utilizing machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques, and collaborating across scientific teams to contribute to high-impact research projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations to study protein structure dynamics and mechanisms of protein-protein interactions.
- Develop and implement in silico tools for designing vaccines and therapeutic products targeting pathogens such as HIV-1, Influenza, and Malaria.
- Design and apply methods for analyzing vaccine-elicited immune responses, including the sequence and structural analysis of antibodies.
- Create and utilize custom-built AI/ML tools to evaluate vaccine outcomes and related data.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to identify biologically significant findings in experimental datasets and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of scientists.
- Utilize High-Performance Computing (HPC) resources to integrate advanced computational techniques, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, and deep learning, into protein and vaccine target design.
- Co-lead and coordinate research projects, including but not limited to HIV-1, Malaria, Influenza, and Lassa, collaborating with scientists across organizations and institutions.
- Provide scientific expertise to support and advance protein structure and vaccine design efforts.
- Mentor interns and postbaccalaureate scientists to foster skill development and scientific growth.
- Publish research findings and analysis in peer-reviewed scientific journals
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Computational Chemistry, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of postdoctoral experience in bioinformatics, structural biology, or vaccine-related research.
- Strong expertise in molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo simulations, and computational protein analysis.
- Experience developing and applying AI/ML tools in biological or biomedical research.
- Proficiency in High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments and advanced computational techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate on multidisciplinary projects and mentor junior scientists.
- A strong record of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
