Software Quality Engineer I - Statistician

As a driven and experienced statistical tester, as a Software Quality Engineer I., You will contribute to the testing of our innovative and market-leading clinical development product suite that helps our customers to design, model, and simulate complex innovative clinical trials with the potential to create significant value for sponsors and patients by increasing their probability of success and accelerating time to market.

You will be responsible for testing sophisticated and advanced statistical/mathematical algorithms for our cloud-hosted and on-premise software products.

Summary of Job Responsibilities

• Study specifications and technical documents for algorithms carefully.
• Create validation methodologies for algorithms.
• Search for appropriate validators for algorithms from published papers, R packages, and other software libraries.
• Create validators for algorithms using specifications in R, Python, etc…
• Learn and adhere to applicable processes for your work.
• Understand the testing strategy and create test cases as per strategy.
• Execute test cases on the product and report the defect.
• Learn new statistical methodologies
• Learn new coding languages like R, Julia, and Python

Practices and Applicable Processes:

• Participate in peer code review of other testers and review each other’s codes
• Estimate and plan your work and give updates of the progress of your work.
• Become a productive member of an agile team.
• Participate in agile ceremonies wholeheartedly.

Qualification, Skills, and Experience:

• Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Science or equivalent degree in Science

Skills and Experience:

• 0-3 years of experience in algorithmic /scientific computing
• Strong mathematical and logical aptitude
• Good knowledge of Statistics/ Applied Mathematics (numerical methods, calculus, linear algebra, mathematical modeling, statistical methods, probability theory, etc.)
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills, ability to think about trends in different statistical parameters.
• Passion for learning new methods of testing and thinking about methods for testing.
• Self-driven with the ability to think creatively and solve complex problems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong initiative and dedicated work ethic
• Knowledge of R/Python/Mathematica software.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

Optional Skills and Experience (Preferred but not mandatory)

• Experience working with Agile frameworks like Scrum.
• Familiarity with project management & collaboration tools like Jira, Confluence, MS Teams, etc.
• Advanced knowledge of programming languages like R, and Python.
• Knowledge of the creation of plots, and prototypes in programming languages like R, and Python.
• Experience in carrying out testing of Statistical/Mathematical algorithms.
• Excellent Presentation skills.
• Domain knowledge related to clinical trials
• Knowledge about testing methodologies
