Cytonome has an immediate opening for an entry-level, full-time R&D Electrical Engineer.
Location: College Station, TX

Job Function:
- Provide support in and R&D setting for the design, fabrication, and use of bench prototype devices for use in biomedical, agriculture, and biotechnology applications
- Hands on work in an R&D laboratory environment
- Actively participate in group problem solving and design sessions to envision new approaches for cell sorting cell measurement
Job Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in ideation and design as part of a cross-disciplinary team
- Independently execute project assignments as either a team member or team leader
- Perform literature searches, research suppliers, and independently research new devices or technologies related to projects
- Present information through reports, in-person presentations, or virtual meeting presentations regarding research findings and project progress
- Design, fabricate, and test prototype fixtures in the ATL optics and instrument laboratories
- Design and implement electronics, opto‐electronics, HDL code, firmware and software
- Trouble shoot and debug electrical engineering design, implementation and integration
- Assist in design reviews of projects
- Write electrical engineering specifications and test plans
- Interact regularly with management to communicate status of milestones and impact of technical hurdles
- Provide verification/validation support
- Adhere to applicable laws, regulations and Company’s policies, procedures, including quality management
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE NECESSARY TO PERFORM POSITION EFFECTIVELY:
Educational Background:
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering
- Emphasis on photonics, measurement systems, FPGA/GPU-based DSP, or robotics preferred
Other Requirements:
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-disciplinary team environment
• Expert in use of MS Office Suite and mathematics applications such as Matlab or Mathematica
• Familiarity with Spice circuit analysis application
• Familiarity with Python is preferred
• Familiar with the application of Arduino microprocessor PCBs (or similar) for prototyping
• Interest in the development biomedical or biotechnology instrumentation and processing devices is preferred
• Experience in the use of laser-induced fluorescence for life science research is a plus
