General Summary:
The Sr. Director of Business Development is accountable for sales results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to drive sales growth through development and execution of strategic and tactical plans. This position will coordinate closely with functional leads to ensure the regional sales strategy has strong operational alignment to support Cytovance Biologic’s three platforms: Microbial, Mammalian and Gene Therapy lines of business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement an aggressive, consultative, technically oriented sales plan and client experience strategy for Cytovance platforms for their respective USA and International territories.
· Understand the regional competitive landscape and sell the advantage of working with Cytovance to your client base.
· Maintain contact with existing customers as well as develop new customers to achieve or exceed quarterly and annual sales objectives.
· Identifies and evaluates business opportunities to grow Cytovance share in the marketplace.
· Develop relationships with new and existing clients to understand key applications and generate customer driven solutions.
· Research, identify and develop new business prospects, including key accounts or additional opportunities in the marketplace, using multiple sources.
· Develop strategic client retention plans that result in long term, mutually beneficial relationships.
· Frequent travel may be required to visit customers in person. Develop a working knowledge of current and potential activities that may affect revenues. Utilize pre-call planning for increased effectiveness.
· Presents sales presentations for internal and external customers.
· Works closely with the client, Cytovance functional experts and our proposal center developing and presenting high quality and thorough proposals to clients.
· Assists Vice President, Sales & Business Development with product trending and industry/market trending and may routinely gather account and client information.
· Participates in regional and national sales meetings.
· Interfaces with quality systems and manufacturing and quality management personnel on issues related to products in the field.
· Utilize the CRM database to input and provide information that will increase effectiveness and aid sales.
· Stay current on developments within the industry. Attends tradeshows.
· Complete other duties as assigned by Vice President of Sales
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree - Life Sciences discipline
· Master’s degree in a business or science function preferred
· 3-5 years relevant experience in sales in a related technical/scientific industry
· Previous experience with a Contract Manufacturing Organization (CDMO).
· Outstanding ability to build key customer relationships with the ability to educate and demonstrate technical value propositions in order to promote the Cytovance difference and possess an outstanding drive for excellence and results
· Superior ability to create and deliver highly professional, quality presentations
· High aptitude to learn technical and scientific information
· Detail oriented and strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work independently, within prescribed guidelines, or as a team member
· Must be highly proficient Microsoft Office applications
· Experience using a CRM, preferably Salesforce.com
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a home office environment. Employee frequently works at client locations and frequently is required to travel by airplane and automobile. Travel is estimated at 25%- 40%. The work environment is fast-paced and demanding. Off-shift, weekend and overtime duties may be required as assigned by the VP of Bus Dev/Sales.
