Position: Server
Building: Junior High School
Terms of Employment: .45 FTE, School year, 5 hours/day, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Prepares daily menu items from standardized recipes for breakfast, lunch, and snack.
- Maintains high standards of production, safety, and sanitation at all times.
- Maintains an ongoing plan for professional growth by attending meetings, workshops, and seminars as required by USDA.
- Stores foods according to health and safety regulations.
- Maintains accurate records for production and time/temperature.
- Provides information to the Director of School Nutrition for budget planning and preparation.
- Sanitizes tables and benches in lunchroom.
- Checks menu in advance for food preparation and daily workload.
- Operates dishwasher and properly stores trays and silverware.
- Washes and sanitizes pots and pans.
- Cleans kitchen and equipment daily according to standards.
- Works with Principal and teachers to promote the school lunch program within the school and District.
- Serves USDA reimbursable meals to students using offer versus serve requirements.
- Organizes serving lines to accommodate students quickly and efficiently.
- Orders food and supplies from production kitchen.
- Operates point of sale terminal during meal service.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
WHAT IT TAKES:
- Experience or training in volume food preparation preferred.
- ServSafeâ Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of modern methods of quantity food preparation.
- Knowledge of use and care of institutional kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to make arithmetic computations and keep accurate records.
- Works effectively with school personnel, subordinates, students, parents, and community groups.
- Possesses stamina to stand and/or walk on hard flooring for long periods.
- Ability to withstand a wide range of temperatures.
- Ability to work with chemical and cleaning agents.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy food items or objects weighing up to 42 pounds.
- Possesses manual dexterity necessary to shred, chop, assemble, and mix foods.
WHAT YOU’LL RECEIVE:
- $16.00 per hour
- Paid time off including 11 paid time off days and 5 holidays (prorated from start date through June 6, 2025).
