Position Overview: We are looking for a reliable and skilled Garage Door Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and servicing residential and commercial garage doors and related components. You will ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local building codes and manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repairs and Maintenance: Diagnose issues with existing garage doors, including malfunctions with springs, openers, cables, rollers, and tracks, and perform repairs.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve problems with garage door systems, ensuring a safe and efficient repair process.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, explaining work needed and answering customer inquiries clearly and professionally.
- Safety: Adhere to safety guidelines, ensuring all work is performed safely, especially when handling tools, electrical systems, and heavy components.
- Documentation: Complete service reports, work orders, and other required documentation accurately and promptly.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of tools, parts, and equipment required for repairs and installations.
- Maintenance Checks: Conduct routine maintenance inspections and tune-ups to ensure doors are functioning properly and extending the lifespan of the equipment.
- Emergency Services: Be on-call for emergency repairs as needed, providing timely and efficient service outside of regular business hours.
- Team Collaboration: Work with other technicians and the customer service team to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve complex issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a garage door technician or in a related field is preferred, but not required (on-the-job training available).
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to safely lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding environments.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety practices and local building codes related to garage doors.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification or training in garage door installation and repair.
- Experience working with a variety of garage door models and systems.
- Familiarity with industry tools and diagnostic equipment.
