The effective and successful Plumbing Journeyperson’s Apprentice at D/E/F Services Group, Ltd is committed to learning and understanding their craft with the goal of becoming a highly skilled and diversified Plumbing Journeyperson. The apprentice will watch, work with, and be directly accountable to the Plumbing Journeyperson who is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing various plumbing components including drain, and water piping, plastic tubing, plumbing fixtures, and other common components used in the Plumbing environment during Construction and Maintenance processes.
The Plumbing Journeyperson’s Apprentice must be registered with the State of Connecticut Office of Apprenticeship Training. To obtain a State of Connecticut P2 License an apprentice must complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training, 576 hours of schooling, and pass a written exam upon completion.
First & Second Year Apprentices at D/E/F Services Group, Ltd will be required to watch, and learn basic plumbing installation skills from an actively licensed Plumbing Journeyperson. Third- & Fourth-Year Plumbing Journeyperson’s Apprentices will continue to learn, and self-perform various advanced tasks under the direct continued oversight of the Plumbing Journeyperson.
Licensed Plumbing Journeypersons can have available career paths in field installation, service, estimating, field & site supervision, and project management.

Essential Traits for Success:
- Perform general labor and clean-up as requested, or as needed
- Demolition and removal of fixtures & pipe
- Material handling & distribution
- Basic layout & hole drilling
- Core-boring of concrete & drilling of wood
- Fire stopping & sleeve installations
- Roughing in of various types of plumbing material
- Ability to read & understanding a construction document or mechanical drawing
- The ability to read & understand a product submittal or material invoice
- Have a familiarity with Uponor Pex, Pro Press, Mega Press for both gas & hydronic steel piping
- Understanding the basic principles and responsibilities of construction, installation, repair and maintenance
- Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay piping and moving and lifting large parcels, or plumbing equipment / fixtures.
- Receive, properly store job site materials for effective job site coordination
Plumbing Journeyperson’s Apprentice Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and able to consistently follow written processes and procedures
- Excellent mathematical skills are preferred
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Ability to stand, lift, maneuver weights that may exceed 50lbs.
- Strong verbal communication skills
Education, Licensing & Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Active apprenticeship with current academic enrollment and completed OJT hours
- Current OSHA 10 Certification is preferred
- Active Driver’s License with reliable transportation.
