The effective and successful Sheet Metal Journeyperson at D/E/F Services Group, Ltd is highly skilled and diversified within their craft, founded in a passion for producing quality work efficiently and effectively. Essential Traits for Success:
- Perform general labor related to sheet metal work, and completing the job.
- Utilize and interpret available blueprints in print or digital form to determine where and how to fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal products.
- Accurately measure and mark dimensions and lay out material to be installed.
- Effectively and efficiently use manual tools, & power tools commonly used in the sheet metal industry.
- Use hand & power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file and grind metal surfaces and joints of parts that have been assembled to ensure safety and a seamless appearance.
- Fasten joints and seams in sheet metal with solder, welds, caulk, bolts and metal driver clips, ensuring work is done carefully and bonds will last
- Install assemblies, including pipes, HVAC ducts, flashings, rain gutters and furnace casings in supportive frameworks
- Remain knowledgeable, and continually improve your skillset to ensure that efficiency is maximized while fabricating and installing.
- Select the appropriate type and gauge of sheet metal to be used in projects according to specifications
- Ensure safety is a priority on the job during all activities, including using tools and installing and fabricating metal
- Maintains job-site efficiency by following policies and procedures and reporting possible needed changes to your direct supervisor.
- Maintains and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks through self-initiative or by request.
Sheet Metal Journeyperson Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and able to consistently follow written processes and procedures
- Excellent mathematical skills are preferred
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Ability to stand, lift, maneuver weights that may exceed 50lbs.
- Strong verbal communication skills
Education, Licensing & Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Active State of Connecticut SM1, SM2, or SM3 License.
- 3-5 Years in the Commercial Construction Industry
- Current OSHA 10 Certification is preferred
- Active Driver’s License with reliable transportation.
