The D. E. Shaw group seeks associates to join its Management Reporting team. This role provides broad exposure to the firm and involves interacting with senior management on a variety of high-level analyses.
What you’ll do day-to-day
You’ll prepare ad hoc fund and trading strategy profitability analysis for firmwide management. You’ll produce fund and strategy level reports on daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly returns and capital reports for the Investor Relations team to use in conversations with the firm’s owners and investors. You’ll aggregate and format profit and loss and fee information from internal databases and sources that will be used to produce fund and strategy track records. You’ll perform profit and loss computations, carry out performance analysis, and handle investor, management, and regulatory reporting. You’ll work on special projects, including historical analyses for new fund launches. You’ll also prepare analyses and reports to facilitate decision making for the firm’s Executive Committee. You’ll produce and analyze customized, high-priority expense reports for senior management. You’ll meet with internal clients to identify their needs and requirements, analyze expense data, prepare expense analyses and reports and present them to end users, answer questions, and implement feedback. You’ll partner with software development teams to build a profit and loss reporting platform, which includes ideation of elements and pressure testing functionality. You’ll identify areas of improvement and processes that can be streamlined, with an emphasis on recurring reports. You’ll also build exception-based processes.
Who we’re looking for
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field of study.
Two years of experience with financial data analysis, financial models, variance analysis, calculating performance fees and management fees using macros, using nested formulas in Excel to build models, validating data input, and validating financial reports.
The annual base salary for this position is $130,000 to $140,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
