SUMMARY:
The Laborer will join a close-knit team that will complete many asphalt paving projects together throughout the season. This individual will work along with other operators to complete assigned tasks. The individual may also be responsible for Operator tasks including operation of loaders, skid steers, and broom tractors to aid in the asphalt production process and paving operations. This person is also expected to have a thorough understanding of the equipment and assist in maintenance as needed. Candidates will be expected to be familiar and comply with all OSHA and company safety policies. A 10-hour OSHA certification and valid driver's license is required. A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is a plus. Prompt and reliable attendance is a must.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform asphalt laborer duties such as paving, and operating heavy equipment like skid steers and loaders
- 1-2 Years experience with asphalt Required
- This position should have an extensive knowledge of paving operations, equipment, quality control measures and standard procedures
- Perform proper daily cleanout as per the company procedure.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the Company's Safety Program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Work is performed in an outdoor environment which can include inclement weather, cold and/or heat and humidity.
- Exposure to sun, dust, asphalt and other construction conditions.
- Overtime and long days may be required depending on the project schedule.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/SKILLS:
1-2 years of asphalt experience required. This position should have extensive knowledge of paving operations, equipment, quality control measures and standard procedures. The applicant must have the ability to perform basic math skills and follow written and verbal instructions and relay them to the asphalt crew. Strong work ethic and willingness to work as a team to efficiently complete jobs to the highest customer satisfaction is a must. OSHA 10 and a Valid Driver license is required.
